This 1.65-mile long Massachusetts DOT project was designed to improve operational deficiencies and corridor safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers with the project corridor. The overriding goals were improvement of all modes of transportation by providing a cross section consisting of 4 travel lanes (2 lanes in each direction separated by a median), bicycle accommodating shoulders, and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway; updates to traffic signals and equipment for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); accommodation for U-turns at each intersection; and replacement of drainage system.
The improvements impacted approximately 84 parcels and required fee acquisitions, along with various permanent and temporary easements. ORC performed the negotiations to acquire the property rights in anticipation of the advertising date September 2018.
