Highland Avenue/Needham Street corridor reconstruction

This two-mile long Massachusetts DOT project was designed to improve operational deficiencies and corridor safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers with the project corridor. The overriding goal was to improve all modes of transportation by adding continuous dedicated sidewalks, a 5’ wide raised bike lane, improved turn lanes, and improved transit with adjusted locations to optimize service. The improvements impacted approximately 125 parcels and required fee acquisitions, along with various permanent and temporary easements. ORC performed the negotiations to acquire the property rights in anticipation of advertising the project in Spring 2020.
