This four-mile long Massachusetts DOT project was designed to improve operational deficiencies and corridor safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers with the project corridor. The overriding goals were to relieve congestion; reduce the cut-through and increase safety on local streets adjacent to Route 18; improve pedestrian safety and pedestrian and bike accommodation; replace the bridge over the commuter rail; and update to the stormwater management to reduce flooding.
The improvements impacted approximately 250 parcels and required fee acquisitions, along with various permanent and temporary easements. ORC performed the negotiations to acquire the property rights in anticipation of advertising the project in Fall 2016. ORC performed relocation services for the numerous signs along the corridor. The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2022.
